Zahrah paced aback and forth in front of the stream nervously it seemed that the water was getting less by the minute. The sun was hot on her back and after a minute she couldn't bare to be by the stream any longer so she turned to make the long journey up to the forest to take a drink there. She walked through the long grass of the meadow for a while slowing when she came to the steep slope above which she knew lay the forest and its cool streams. She climbed up the slope and then headed into the forest. She could hear the tinkling of a stream already, it was making her mouth water just thinking about it, maybe after getting a drink she'd hunt in the forest too. She made her way through the trees towards the stream. Finally when she got there she bent down and started gulping down the streams cool water. After what seemed like a long time her thirst was satisfied and she got back up pricking her ears to listen to the sounds of the forest around her. She could hear the scampering of little paws close by. She made her way silently towards the sound. It was coming from two squirrels running around and playing with something. Since they were distracted with their playing it wasn't hard for Zahrah to catch both of them. With them both in her jaws she made the journey back to camp. She dropped one there was someone else to eat and settled down to eat the other a little way off.
When she had eaten so glanced towards the stream again, it did look very dry she got to her feet and padded over to it deciding it was time to investigate it better. She turned around again looking to see if anyone was around to come with her.

Thiros saw Zahrah and trotted over to her. He gave a friendly soft bark and stopped about ten feet away from her. She seemed to be almost investiating something. Curious, he trotted closer and looked at where she was looking. There was an old dried-up stream. What was the deal with that? Those were everywhere here. He tilted his head and looked at her questioningly.

Zahrah turned hearing a bark. She looked at Thiros her pack mate, higher ranking than her so she gave him a respectful dip of her head. He seemed to be tilting his head at her in puzzlement. The fire pack territory was dry apart from this stream and the ones that lay far at the outskirts of the territory. He had seen but didn't seem to care that now they would have to travel long ways every time they needed water. "Its dry...." she said lamely stating what was already obvious to them both.

Thiros sat down and nodded. "I can see." He frowned slightly. "And?" He had a sense that there was more to this han what she said. Something that she didn't tell him yet. She was looking at the dry streambed for a reason, but he had yet to find that reason. Carefully, he put his paw in the river bed. It sank slightly before he pulled it out again. Huh. That was kind of strange. Thiros waited for Zahrah to explain farther or reason why she was looking at the streambed so strangely.

Zahrah watched the other wolf carefully. He a good fighter that's why he had been choosen to become the lead fighter but he still was one of the newer wolves here so maybe that's why he didn't know. "Its the only stream here apart from the ones up at the edge of the territory near the Earth pack boarder and those are a long walk away" she said giving a sigh. She turned to glance in the direction of the boarder, she could see the outline of the trees faintly. The fire pack territory was wide open meadowland save a few trees and the small section of forest near the Earth pack territory.

"Oh." That took him by surprise a bit. "Wow. Ok then. So, this is bad." He looked at it and sniffed. "But it still smells faintly like water. Like it had been filled with it recently." He tilted his head and looked at Zahrah uncertainly. "There's no possible way it could've drained that fast."

Zahrah looked down at the dry stream bed then back to Thiros. "That's what I was thinking" she said "I was here yesterday and didn't notice anything, its been hot but not enough to dry it out that quickly" she continued looking down at the empty stream again in puzzlement. A large herd coming to the area could have lowered the amount of water a little and there had indeed been a large deer herd passing through but surely some deer couldn't full empty their stream? No something else must have happened just what? They would have to investigate.

Thiros shook his head. "Something's not right." He glanced around. Then he turned his gaze back to Zahrah and said,"Well, we have to do one thing. Let's go find the alpha and let them know. Sound good?" He looked at her carefully, hoping she would agree. Something wasn't right here and it needed to be discovered. Otherwise, they were in bad shape.

She could feel her heart pounding in her ears, the countdown of when to attack. Peril's eyes were set mainly on a beige-colored rabbit. Her black derma hid in the huge dark brown trees. She could hear the dripping of the river behind her, and talk. Her ears lit up, trying to hear much of the conversation between Zahrah and Thiros as she could. Something about the river, and the alpha. Well, they would have to wait. Peril was already close to the rabbit, and couldn't go back now. So her paws stepped out very lightly, and.. immediately the rabbit started hopping away quickly! Peril chased after the rabbit quickly, her jaws clamping on air. Her precise vision kept the tail of the rabbit in sight, and when she got her claws on it, it was like a fox trap. She tackled the rabbit and held the jumpy animal in her paws, sinking her large ivories into its fluffy skin. The rabbit died with blood trickling down its face. Peril slowly got up and trotted with the rabbit in her mouth, excited from the kill. She poked herself out of the woods, seeing the two wolves standing by the river.
"Hey, you two lovebirds! What's going on here?" she asked intently. Her words were slightly muffled from the rabbit's fur, but she was still understood clearly.

Zahrah looked at Thiros a little uncertainly "Maybe we should investigate a little further first, to be able to give the alpha's more information and they might be busy you know, we should definitely go with more information for them" she tried to explain. She hated to be questioned without knowing answers, she wanted to find out all they could before going near the alpha's.
Zahrah jumped slightly at the muffled voice. Quickly she stepped back a little from Thiros before turning her head to see who it was. It was Peril, the small she-wolf that was their packs beta. Ignoring what she had said calling them lovebirds, she began to explain "Look" she pointed her nose downwards to the dried up stream bed "the stream has dried out, there's no more water and there's something wrong it couldn't have dried out this fast by itself". She paused inhaling slightly to get the scent of blood from the dead rabbit before saying quickly to the beta "I think she should go investigate". Peril had more authority than Thiros maybe she could get Peril to agree with her. If Peril agreed that they should explore then surely Thiros wouldn't argue. She looked at Peril, a little bit of hope showing in her eyes.

Peril stared at the dry riverbank, and the begging eyes of Thiros and Zahrah. She rolled her eyes and sat down, pushing the rabbit out of her mouth.
"Okay, fine, you two may investigate, but not right now. Maybe tonight, when it's more silent and clear. Anyway, want to share this rabbit with me?"
She quickly said these words, to get over with it. She truly thought it would be smarter for them to investigate at night, so they weren't distracted by daily noises and scents. She moved to the riverbank and put her paw in the small drips of water, feeling it dry and hot instead of cold and refreshing. She immediately knew something was up - but they could wait.

Zahrah opened her mouth a little in protest but then she shut it again and glanced sidewards at Thiros as if hoping for him to speak up and say something but as he remained silent she turned her eyes back to Peril "What if..." she began but then trailed off a little "what ever is wrong needs to be fixed as soon as possible?" she finished "we wouldn't want to be wasting precious time doing nothing" she added after a slight pause. Now that she was finished speaking she eyed the rabbit taking in its scent again of fresh meat. It made her stomach give a slight growl but she stayed silent now waiting to see what the beta would say. As she waited for the reply she took her eyes off the so tempting looking fresh rabbit and averted them to watch Peril inspecting the now dry riverbed testing it with her paw like she herself had done earlier. Part of her agreed with that it would be 'more silent and clear' at night but she did still prefer the thought of going to investigate now. Maybe it was just something simple that they could solve, just a large fallen tree blocking the water like a dam stopping it from following? Now that she thought of it that could be a possible explanation, it had been windy lately a little stormy too a tree just might have been knocked by this weather.

[Peril, the beta female came after Zahrah saying to Thiros she wanted to explore before going to the alpha. Peril said they should go at night and Zahrah said that she wanted to go now]

((OOC: okay.))
Thiros looked at the two females, suddenly feeling a bit awkward. He glanced at the ground and at his furry paws before muttering,"Um.. You two can decide that. I'm, uh, not very good at making choices on these things." He looked up at them and hoped that he hadn't just started a conflict.
